Fascia (connective tissue) isn’t just the “wrapping” for your muscles. Fascia lives at the intersection of mind, body and spirit - receiving and responding to communication (energy) from your conscious mind, your subconscious (nervous system), from your daily activities as well as environmental triggers like toxicity, other human beings’ nervous systems and electromagnetic signals (like WiFi or EMFs). Today I’m walking you through some of the primary ways that fascia is a reflection of YOU: your thoughts, beliefs, activities, habits etc and how these reciprocal relationships determine your overall internal health (everything that depends on healthy fascia, which includes muscles, bones, organs, lymph tissue, your immune system, your nervous system, brain, tendons, ligaments, joints...so pretty much everything!) Fascia is unique in the body, in that it is the only single element that touches all other elements. Fasca is a connector as well as a separator, but it’s far from the inert “wrapping” that western science described it as up until very recently (and in some circles that’s still how it’s described and treated). Fascia responds to chemical messengers like fear, and has been shown it can actually thicken in response to a hormone called TGF (which can get created in response to persistent fear for example). This is one way fascia is a reflection of you/your life. How much fear/stress are you running through your body? Fascia is supposed to be 70% water, and since fascia is the most abundant tissue in the human body it could be inferred that fascial hydration levels play a critical in overall hydration, which of course is critical not just for health but staying alive. Cellular hydration is dependent on water-rich fascia. Most adults today have dehydrated brittle fascia in many parts of their fascial system, if not all of it. This water content is dependent on plentiful hyaluronic acid inside your fascia, since it’s the HA that imbibes water into the ECM (from the water you drink). Many factors can contribute to a decline in hyaluronic acid production inside the ECM (the watery, collagen rich environment that every cell in your body depends on for nutrients and hydration, and is part of the fascial system). Some of these factors are directly under your conscious or unconscious control. I encourage you to begin taking conscious control of these processes, so you maintain healthy youthful fascia for life.
